After Amit Shah’s meet, BJP announces 7-point plan for Mumbai civic polls

Mumbai: Union home minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day trip to Mumbai, held a meeting with Mumbai BJP leaders on the party’s strategy for the upcoming Mumbai civic polls. In a late night meeting held at the state guest house ‘Sahyadri’, Shah met State BJP Chief Chandra Shekhar Bawankule, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mumbai BJP Chief Ashish Shelar and other leaders and asked them to start working aggressively on every municipal ward.

In September 2022, Shah in a meeting with BJP leaders had given them a target of the party getting 150 seats. In the two and a half hour long meeting, Shah told the 13 member BJP Mumbai core Committee that the party should dethrone the Shiv Sena (Uddhav) group’s hold in the civic body and should have its own Mayor.

Emerging from the meeting Shelar said that the party had formed a 7-point plan for the elections. ” We have discussed a plan to contest the polls in an alliance with the Shiv Sena( Eknath Shinde) Republican Party of India (Athavale) and have our own Mayor. Our state President Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis guided us as to how we are going to go ahead on our task and we submitted a report (to Shah) on the party’s preparations for the civic elections. We are confident that the people would support us and we would emerge victorious.”said Shelar while speaking to reporters on Saturday night.
